In November of this year, we were contacted by Arthur Rittenhouse, Vice President of the Hendricks(on) Family Association of NJ, who invited us to be a part of the second annual Wreaths Across America wreath presentation this morning at the Hendrickson Family Burial Ground/Cemetery, in Holmdel, who also invited us to share the invitation with VFW Post 2179. This cemetery, which holds members of the Hendricks and Hendrickson families of Monmouth County, who were some of the founding members of the county, as well as Veterans from Civil War, War of 1812 and Revolutionary War, was destroyed in August, 2010.

Since then, they have been working to restore the cemetery.

There is currently a bill waiting to be passed in the NJ State Legislature which would make the illegal destruction of family and private burial grounds a felony act instead of the current misdemeanor with fine. For more information and detailed specifics on the "Family and Private Burial Grounds Preservation Act," Assembly, No. 1704, State of New Jersey 216th Legislature, please click here.

We were honored to have been invited to and participate in today's ceremony, and again thank Mr. Rittenhouse for extending the invitation to us, for coming to our December meeting on 12/8 and for making us aware of the "Family and Private Burial Grounds Preservation Act."
